You don’t have to suffer if you have bad breath. There are lots of options for those who are serious about getting rid of bad breath, and most of them are simple to use. Bad breath usually comes from one of two sources, either food particles remaining in your mouth, or not enough moisture in there. This ebook provide simple steps to eliminate bad breath.

Sample

Ways to Cure Bad Breath

Brush your teeth: It sounds simple. But just brushing your teeth more often will help reduce bad breath. Not only will the toothpaste often mask odors, but more importantly brushing will remove food particles that are a major cause of bad breath. Carry a toothbrush to work and brush after lunch or even coffee breaks. It will help. Your dentist will thank you too.

Brush your tongue: It sits right in the middle of your mouth and your breath passes right over it. A clean tongue helps keep your breath from picking up any additional odors from small particles that might have lodged on its rough surface. It’s not hard, just one more step in the fight against bad breath. Besides, you’re already brushing your teeth regularly, so this won’t really take any extra time or effort.

Don’t eat garlic: Garlic is one of those foods that tastes much better than it smells. The thing to remember is that if you’re going to be enjoying garlic at lunch, everyone else is going to be sharing it that afternoon. Save your garlic for when you’re going out at night and everyone with you is going to be sharing it. It just works better that way.

Avoid onions: They add flavor to everything they touch, but they can add bad breath too. The thing to remember is that it’s raw onions that make their mark on the local atmosphere. Cooked onions are much less fragrant, especially on your breath. So if you’re an onion fan, go for the cooked ones if you can, and don’t load up with raw onions on that sub sandwich you had for lunch. Your co- workers will thank you.

Watch out for cheese: Cheese is another thing that can add to the air around you. Generally, the milder the cheese, the lighter the effect, so don’t go wild on those bleu cheeses with the mold cultures and expect your breath to smell as sweet. If you’re someone whose breath records every cheese they’ve eaten, save them for when you get home. Then brush your teeth afterwards.

Use mouthwash: Mouthwash is one of the classic recommendations, and as a temporary fix it can’t be beat. It kills odor-causing bacteria and many of them add a hint of mint. The only problem is that a lot of mouthwashes have alcohol, which dries the mouth and can bring bad breath back just as quickly as it removed it. So use it when you need it, but don’t rely on it for the entire day.

Don’t smoke: This is good advice generally, but stopping smoking will definitely make your breath better. No cigarettes, no ash breath. Not only does the smoke itself give you bad breath, but it also adds to dry mouth and that always makes your breath worse. Smoking is just one of those things everyone is better off avoiding.

Clinical Guidelines – Diagnosis and Treatment Manual is a ebook for curative programmes in hospitals and dispensaries and guidance for prescribing. This diagnostic and treatment manual ebook is designed for use by medical professionals involved in curative care at the dispensary and hospital levels. Clinical Guidelines – Diagnosis and Treatment Manual ebook edition touches on the curative and, to a lesser extent, the preventive aspects of the main diseases encountered in the field. The list is incomplete, but covers the essential needs.

Sample

Introduction

Curative care is one component of health programmes. It is important to remember that the other components also need to be developed. These components include programmes focusing on: palliative care (including pain control), psychological support, prevention (including the Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI), maternal-child health etc.), nutrition, water, hygiene and sanitation.

I. The objectives of curative care programmes

At an individual level: to cure the patient of disease and to minimize or prevent the consequences for the individual and those in close contact (i.e. preventing transmission when possible).

At a population level: to reduce the mortality and the consequences of morbidity of the most prevalent and important diseases in the population. – For certain endemic diseases (tuberculosis, leprosy, trypanosomiasis etc.): curative care can reduce transmission if a large enough proportion of the population is treated. Often, this objective is only achieved through specific control programmes which are not extensively discussed in this manual.

II. Strategy
When defining a strategy for a medical intervention, medical decision makers must take into account the priority diseases: those with the highest frequency and mortality. Priority diseases vary with context (conflict, natural disasters, etc.) and geographical region. Nevertheless, there is a relatively standard epidemiological profile with quantitative variations. An initial assessment, both qualitative (disease distribution) and if possible quantitative (mortality, incidence, prevalence and case fatality), is still necessary. This evaluation identifies the most common diseases (diarrhoea, measles, acute respiratory tract infections, malaria, wounds etc.) and the population groups exposed and at risk (children under 5 years, pregnant women).

These diseases and populations constitute the priority ‘targets’ of a programme. For rehabilitation programmes and programmes to support pre-existing health structures, detailed information is sometimes available from the health structures or from the Ministry of Health. The evaluation consists of assessing the information available and filling in any missing data.

In very isolated contexts or when there is population displacement, no information is available and it is always necessary to do a complete assessment.

Once the priority diseases are identified and health policy, means and resources (list of essential drugs, Ministry of Health protocols, staff and level of training, health services, functioning programmes etc.) are known, programmes can be defined and initiated. This manual and the manual, Essential drugs – practical guidelines, are tools to help in the definition and implementation (protocols, training, retraining) of curative programmes.

You can get this herbal remedies in your garden or by planting in your house.
The Antioxidant Vitamins

Do you know that antioxidant vitamins help to stop certain illness, ranging rom heart complaint to cancer? In recent years, scientists have dentified several antioxidant vitamins posses an added advantage to help maintain good health. The vitamins most often identified as antioxidants are Vitamins A, C, and E. In addition to prevent the cardiovascular ailments and cancer, these vitamins are crucial to the health of certain tissues and specific body processes. If you want to achieve broad range of protection from these unique vitamins, the antioxidant vitamins should be combined with other important nutrients.

Other Benefits of Antioxidant Vitamins
The antioxidant vitamins protect an individual not only against cancer and cardiac problems, but also against nervous disorders, infections, vision problems and the physical effects of aging.

Inclusion of antioxidant vitamins in diet
It really makes sense to eat a well-balanced diet rich in wide variety of vegetables and fruits, which contain many antioxidant vitamins and nutrients. As antioxidants function in your body as an nteracting network, make sure to include the antioxidants that act in the water-soluble areas and at-soluble areas of the body.

You need to include these important vitamins on a daily basis to assure that your body retains the proper antioxidant reserves for future use. The common plants that contain more antioxidant itamins and nutrients are soy, citrus fruits, ginkgo leaves, rosemary, Bilberry fruit, Noni fruit and urmeric. The best sources of antioxidants are ginger, pomegranate, sunflower seeds, walnuts, and berries and garlic.

The Free Radical Story
Oxidation is the flame of our life. This process occurs to produce energy by controlled fuel burning within our body. The natural by-products of this process are free radicals. These free radicals cause ageing and other complications. The antioxidants (Vitamins A, C, E) reserve in our body and antioxidant daily inclusion takes care of these free radicals by neutralizing them.

Vitamin A
Nearly everyone has heard of Vitamin A’s role in immunity, cancer prevention, and bone growth, health of skin and other body linings and in vision. But the hidden effect of the vitamin A is nothing but the antioxidant property. This is readily available in fortified milk and green, orange and yellow egetables. They really tend to neutralize the “bad guys”, the free radicals.

Vitamin C
As an antioxidant, this vitamin can help keep the eye lens healthy by hindering the destructive processes that tend to destroy it. This vitamin also enhances the body’s absorption of iron to prevent anemia. Vitamin C helps in preventing oxidation of water-soluble substances in the body.In addition to this, vitamin C plays an important role in the release of stress hormones and connective tissue health.

Vitamin E
This prominent antioxidant vitamin is well known for its antioxidant benefits. Vitamin E blocks fat oxidation, especially in the lungs where copious amounts of oxygen is available and also prevents damage to cell membranes and linings. Moreover, this vitamin may protect against Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, age related macular degeneration, cataracts, cancer, and heart disease.

As antioxidant vitamins provide lots of benefits, we cannot include excess of antioxidant vitamins, as it may be dangerous too. The chemical balance of our body may become seriously disrupted when antioxidant vitamins cross the optimal level. Always get the advice of a licensed nutritionist or a health care professional for proper guidance when it comes to the proper dose of any vitamin.

Substitute fruit purees for butter or margarine. They are easy to prepare in a food processor and will significantly reduce calories and fat.

Cheese is good for you, but the fat is not. Try this: Zap cheese in the microwave and drain off grease or choose lower fat options.

Exercising before you eat just makes you hungrier. Exercise AFTER eating when the body has to work harder to digest food.

Don’t eat while watching television. You can become so engrossed in your program, that don’t even realize how much you are eating.

Too many people skip breakfast. Eat in the morning when the body burns more calories.

Water mixed with fructose suppresses appetite better than glucose with water or diet drinks. Drink a glass of orange juice one half to one hour before a meal.

Avoid trans fatty acids as much as possible. Use olive or canola oil when cooking. Avoid products that list partially hydrogenated oils, since these are trans fatty acids.

Switch from whole to skim milk. All the nutrients are there without the fat. Okay, at least cut back to low fat (1%)!

Limit yourself to just four egg yolks a week.

Trim all fat from meats before cooking. You’ll be amazed at how much you reduce your fat intake if you take this one small step.

Therapeutic Baths

Water has been used as a valuable therapeutic agent since time immemorial. In all major ancient civilizations, bathing was considered an important measure for the maintenance of health and prevention of disease. It was also valued for its remedial properties. The ancient Vedic literature in India contains numerous references to the efficacy of water in the treatment of disease.

In modern times, the therapeutic value of water was popularised by Vincent Priessnitz, Father Sebastian Kneipp, Louis Kuhne and other European water-cure pioneers. They raised water cure to an institutional level and employed it successfully for the treatment of almost every known disease. There are numerous spas and “Bads” in most European countries where therapeutic baths are used as a major healing agent.

Water exerts beneficial effects on the human system. It equalises circulation, boosts muscular tone and aids digestion and nutrition. It also tones up the activity of perspiratory gland and in the process eliminates the damaged cells and toxic matter from the system.

The common water temperature chart is : cold 100C to 180C, neutral 320C to 360C and hot 400C to 450C. Above 450C, water loses its therapeutic value and is destructive. The main methods of water treatment which can be employed in the healing of various diseases in a do-it-yourself manner are described below.

ENEMA

Also known as rectal irrigation, an enema involves the injection of fluid into the rectum. In nature cure treatment, only lukewarm water is used for cleaning the bowels. The patient is made to lie on his left side extending his left leg and bending the right leg slightly. The enema nozzle, lubricated with oil or vaseline, is inserted in the rectum. The enema can containing the lukewarm water is then slowly raised and water is allowed to enter into the rectum. Generally, one to two litres of water is injected. The patient may either lie down on his back or walk a little while retaining the water. After five to 10 minutes, the water can be ejected along with the accumulated morbid matter.

A warm water enema helps to clean the rectum of accumulated faecal matter. This is not only the safest system for cleaning the bowels, but also improves the peristaltic movement of the bowels and thereby relieves constipation. A cold water enema is helpful in inflammatory conditions of the colon, especially in cases of dysentery, diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis, haemorrhoids and fever. A hot water enema is beneficial in relieving irritation due to inflammation of the rectum and painfull haemorrhoids. It also benefits women in leucorrhoea.

COLD COMPRESS

This is a local application using a cloth which has been wrung out in cold water. The cloth should be folded into a broad strip and dipped in cold water or ice water. The compress is generally applied to the head, neck, chest, abdomen and back. The cold compress is an effective means of controlling inflammatory conditions of the liver, spleen, stomach, kidneys, intestines, lungs, brain, pelvic organs and so on. It is also advantageous in cases of fever and heart disease. The cold compress soothes dermities and inflammations of external portions of the eye. When the eyeball is affected, the cold compress should follow a short fomentation.

HEATING COMPRESS

This is a cold compress covered in such a manner as to bring warmth. A heating compress consists of three or four folds of linen cloth wrung out in cold water which is then covered completely with dry flannel or blanket to prevent the circulation of air and help accumulation of body heat. It is sometimes applied for several hours. The duration of the application is determined by the extent and location of the surface involved, the nature and thickness of the coverings and the water temperature. After removing the compress , the area should be rubbed with a wet cloth and then dried with a towel. A heating compress can be applied to the throat, chest, abdomen, and joints. A throat compress relieves sore throat, hoarseness, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis. An abdominal compress helps those suffering from gastritis, hyperacidity, indigestion, jaundice, constipation, diarrhoea, dysentery and other ailments relating to the abdominal organs. The chest compress also known as chest pack, relieves cold, bronchitis, pleurisy, pneumonia, fever, cough and so on, while the joints compress is helpful for inflamed joints, rheumatism, rheumatic fever and sprains.

With the ketosis activating diet system you get to eat without counting calories!

Start your diet with a food diary, record everything you eat, what you were doing at the time, and how you felt. That tells you about yourself, your temptation, the emotional states that encourage you to snack and may help you lose once you see how much you eat. There are quite a few good carb counting software programs on the market today to choose from, my personal favorite is CarbTrack. A simple pad and paper works just as well, but you must keep detailed records, in order to guarantee your success.

Instead of eating the forbidden piece of candy, brush your teeth. If you’ re about to cheat, allow yourself a treat, but make sure it’ s a low carb treat. More and more grocers are begriming to carry low carb foods, as the low carb diet’ s popularity steadily increases. If you happen to live in a small community or rural area, don’ t fret, there are also tons of great online Low Carb Marts to choose from, our favorite happens to be Netrition.com.

When hunger hits, wait 10 minutes before eating and see if it passes. Set attainable goals. Don’ t say, “I want to lose 50 pounds.” Say, “I want to lose 5 pounds a month.” Get enough sleep but not too much. Try to avoid sugar at all costs. Highly sweetened foods tend to make you crave more. When baking, use Splenda, a great tasting sugar substitute that can be found, along with about any other low carb snack, treat and item at Synergy.com

Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. Water itself helps cut down on water retention because it acts as a natural diuretic. Taken before meals, it dulls the appetite by giving you that “full feeling.” Diet with a buddy. Support groups are important, and caring people can help one another succeed. Start your own, even with just one other person. A great online resource for support is e-Diets.com.

Substitute activity for eating. When the cravings hit, go to the “Y” or health club if possible; or dust, or walk around the block. This is especially helpful if you eat out of anger. A good and obvious course of action, would be to begin a workout routine. For warehouse prices on everything from treadmills, to stationary bikes and home gyms, make sure and check out SmoothFitness.com.

If the pie on the counter is just too great a temptation and you don’ t want to throw it away, freeze it. If you’ re a late-night eater, have a low carb snack, such as some pork rinds or a few cheese curds, before bedtime to cut down on cravings. Keep a glass of water by your bed to quiet the hunger pangs that wake you up in the middle of the night.

If you use food as a reward, establish a new reward system. Buy yourself a non- edible reward. Write down everything you eat – - everything – including what you taste when you cook. If you monitor what you eat, you can’ t go off your diet. Again, the easiest way I have found to track my eating habits and records is with CarbTrack.

Weigh yourself once a week at the same time. Your weight fluctuates constantly and you can weigh more at night than you did in the morning, a downer if you stuck to your diet all day. Make dining an event. Eat from your own special plate, on your own special place mat, and borrow the Japanese art of food arranging to make your meal, no matter how normal, look lovely. This is a trick that helps chronic over-eaters and bingers pay attention to their food instead of consuming it unconsciously.

Don’ t shop when you’ re hungry. You’ ll only buy more high carb impulse food. Avoid finger foods that are easy to eat in large amounts. Avoid consuming large quantities of coffee & diet sodas, which are so easy to overdo. And this includes alcoholic beverages. Keep plenty of crunchy foods like raw radishes, cauliflower & broccoli on hand. They’ re low in carbs, and are very satisfying and filling. Leave something on your plate, even if you are a charter member of the Clean The Plate Club. It’ s a good sign that you can stop eating when you want to, not just when your plate is empty.

It’s a serious issue when you are overweight. Carrying extra weight can make you more susceptible to heart problems, diabetes, stroke, and various types of cancer. It can also affect your body image as well thus causing problems with your self-esteem. Many people associate weight loss with being hungry all the time. They’re afraid to start a weight loss plan because they want to avoid the frustrations of hunger. And yes, a lot of times for many people they think it’s better to be overweight than to starve

Why are We so Overweight?

I suppose the easiest answer is fast food, but the problem extends out to so much more. Yes, the prevalence of fast food restaurants certainly doesn’t help. As Morgan Spurlock showed us with painful reality in his movie, ‘Super Size Me’, fast food menus offer us a heaping helping of fat, cholesterol, and calories. I highly recommend watching this movie if you find yourself addicted to McDonald’s – you could very well change your mind after you see it!

At any rate, many of these restaurants are now offering health-conscious choices including salads, potatoes instead of French fries, yogurt, and grilled meats instead of fried meats. So with these items now included on their menu, why aren’t we losing weight? The answer lies within our choices. Those choices extend to home life as well.

Many people live horridly busy lifestyles, and they more often than not opt for pre-packaged foods that contain high amounts of salt, fat, and other unhealthy components that contribute toward weight gain. We tend to maintain a mostly sedentary lifestyle choosing to watch a favorite television program after dinner rather than going out for a walk like they used to do decades ago.

This type of life style unfortunately is being learned by our children as well. When I was young, we couldn’t wait to get through dinner so we could go outside and play a game of kick the can as the sun went down. We rode our bikes everywhere and only watched television when ‘The Brady Bunch’ or ‘The Partridge Family’ was on. Hey, we had our priorities!

Today, you’re more likely to find kids on the computer or in front of the TV with a video game controller in their hands. Kids know more about the story line on Desperate Housewives than many of their housewife mothers. They can tell you about all of the new products being offered through commercials they see in between their programs. In fact, the average child these days will watch more than 15 hours of television each and every week.

Now, we’re not saying television is BAD. In fact, some programs can be beneficial and even helpful in making kids smarter. What we’re saying is that kids need to get outside more instead of sitting in front of the TV eating Cheetos and drinking sugar rich soda.

Many people don’t understand the concept of metabolism and metabolic change. There is so much information floating around out there, much of it over the net or through a friend of a friend who has a personal trainer, that there’s bound to be some confusion and conflicting messages. Furthermore, many people (quite understandably) mistake their own weight gain and loss episodes as a matter of metabolic change. Sometimes this is true, and sometimes it isn’t.

This ebook will tell you how to transform your metabolism into a calorie burning machine! See how easily you can reshape your metabolism to burn calories at a rate you’ve never experienced before!

Part 1: What is Metabolism?

Some people think that the metabolism is a kind of organ, or a body part, that influences digestion.

Actually, the metabolism isn’t any particular body part.

It’s the process by which the body converts food into energy.

Hence, you’ve likely heard of the phrase metabolic process used synonymously with the term metabolism, because they both mean the same thing.

The Medical Mumbo Jumbo

This isn’t a complicated medical text (which should be great news to most of you!), and so we don’t need to spend an unnecessary amount of time and space focusing on the layered complexity of the human body and its extraordinary intelligence.

Yet without drilling deeply into medical details — which are not relevant for our general understanding purposes — it’s helpful to briefly look at the biological mechanisms behind metabolism.

Metabolism, as mentioned above, is the process of transforming food (e.g. nutrients) into fuel (e.g. energy). The body uses this energy to conduct a vast array of essential functions. In fact, your ability to read this page – literally – is driven by your metabolism. If you had no metabolism – that is, if you had no metabolic process that was converting food into energy – then you wouldn’t be able to move. In fact, long before you realized that you couldn’t move a finger or lift your foot, your internal processes would have stopped; because the basic building blocks of life – circulating blood, transforming oxygen into carbon dioxide, expelling potentially lethal wastes through the kidneys and so on – all of these depend on metabolism. Keep this in mind the next time you hear someone say that they have a slow metabolism. While they may struggle with unwanted weight gain due to metabolic factors, they certainly have a functioning metabolism. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t even be able to speak (because that, too, requires energy that comes from, you guessed it: metabolism!).

It’s also interesting to note that, while we conveniently refer to the metabolic process as if it were a single function, it’s really a catch-all term for countless functions that are taking place inside the body. Every second of every minute of every day of your life – even, of course, when you sleep – numerous chemical conversions are taking place through metabolism, or metabolic functioning. In a certain light, the metabolism has been referred to as a harmonizing process that manages to achieve two critical bodily functions that, in a sense, seem to be at odds with each other.
